The one sold by Hudson is a Chinese knock off of the Canadian made Log Wizard. Google Log Wizard and you find lots of info. I used a friend of mines for a month or so and found it a great tool.

I think you'd need pretty clean, dry wood to preserve the blades. We looked at one for peeling posts, but decided it was too much money to start with ($200+), and was likely to be problematic to keep sharp and de-gummed.

Good Point.... I suppose sap could be a major problem when using this tool, which of course is not mentioned throughout the demonstration:cool:
and I never thought of whether or not the tree would need to be green or dried out in order for this to work efficiently, of course something else that was not mentioned;) definitely more research is needed,

I know when using my chipper it works better when feeding green freshly cut limbs into it, if when trying to chip dried limbs ... 1# they are stiff and more difficult to feed into the chute, 2# when the dry wood reach the chipper blade/teeth it take 5 time as long to chew up the limbs when having to keep steady pressure applied to the limbs, when feeding green limbs the chipper pulls them into the blades/teeth,

Never saw one of those. Looks kinda slow in the video. Agree on logs like fir or pine; probable gum up a lot on green logs with a lot of sap. What happens when you hit a knot? I have seen the chain saw type log mills though and they are slick. A lot of them here in the PNW. Best if used with a professional grade saw 20" or longer bar. A friend of mine built a 2 bedroom log cabin of pine. Cut every log the same width so mating sides are always the same, no problem keeping a level wall that way. He used a heavy duty router and cut two grooves the long way close to inside and outside and installed a urethane foam sealer rope in each groove. The compression of the sealer strips made an air tight wall. He let the bark fall off naturally on the outside and furred out the inside for paneling to leave a space for wiring and plumbing. There is your log cabin process. Those mill attachments vary in price depending on the features you want. Google "chain saw mills". I'll bet you get a lot of products.

The device works well to point logs, groove etc whether the wood is dry or not. Gum does not seem to be a major problem and it chews knots. For debarking softwood I use a spud -- dirt in the bark will do in any blade. The thing uses relatively inexpensive planer blades so if they dull its not a big tragedy.
