Anyone have a 533/543?

A friend of mine is interested in one. The nearest Massey dealer is not close. I wanted to get opinions of anyone who owns or has operated one. Thanks.

I am getting one, I drove the 533 yesterday, and really liked it. it is not as fancy as some other tractors, but I really liked the layout. I could not believe how fast they can go either, most of the tractors I looked at topped out at around 15. the 533 will go around twice that. plus I could not beat the price, a JD 790 would cost me more, and the 533 has twice the HP. I think it will be perfect for what I needed. plenty of power and weight, for a good brush mower, and ripping dirt. it will take a FEL if I want one later, and even has rear remotes standard.

I have owned a Massey 451. I don't know what model of the 500 series replaced it. I did not keep it very long due to quality problems. I understand that the 431 and the 461 that were built in Turkey had fewer problems than the other 400 series that were bulilt in Brazil. Have you driven one of the 03 series John Deeres? I think that you will find these tractors to be much more comfortable tractors and probably cheaper too. That is what I traded for and I have been very happy with it and have had no problems. The local Deere dealer has four late model Masseys on his lot now. He said the other owners had problems similar to mine.

from what I have read the 533 replaced the 431, they look very different, they changed alot on the 500 series, they also have a warranty that is as good or better than a deere. if I could of found a half way decent deere dealer I would of looked at one, but the ones in my area, have really poor service, and sell their stuff higher than list. I am not going to pay higher than list for one. we found a great MF dealer, and he gave us a great price, an sells implements at cost when you buy a tractor from him. I looked at kubota, and new holland, and although the dealer was good, they did not offer the HP I was looking for, for $ I could afford.

Do you mind telling what the tractor cost? My local dealer priced it in the low $15,000's I think. But now I can't remember if that was a 533 or 543. My friend likes them because they appear to have a wide width.
