Seriously considering an F series kubota with 72in rear discharge deck, for my 5 acres to mow. just wanted some feedback on how they mowed and how fast they would get it done.
I wanted to buy a F-series mower. Looked for a used one. But they all seemed to have high hours and worn out. Looked at new. Way out of my price range. Did bring one home for a tryout. Liked it very much.
Ended up buying a JD model without 4WD. For cutting it is a better ride than a ZD. Much more maneuverable than a tractor with MMM. But not as quick as ZD. Two good features is it gets under tree with a low overhang and they drive more like a car. Wife will cut lawn if she had to.
There are a few members that have the F mowers. Hopefully they will see this thread.
I purchased a Kubota F2260 4wd with a 60' mower in 1998. I also have the snowblower and front blade. The unit has been a great performer. It has almost 800 hours and never a repair. Lots of power, great fuel economy, rides smooth, mower cuts well (not as well as my Allis Chalmers 620 with 60" mower, but certainly above average), auto 4wd is excellent (no lawn scuffing) and front mower allows great access under my 100 plus Black Hills Spruce trees.
This unit used to be my primary snow removal machine, but lack of a cab and old bones put me in a new Kubota L3430 a couple years ago.
My local city traded two John Deere front mowers for two new Kubota 80 series front mowers. The Public Works Director loves them.
Glad to hear it, I really want one dealer quoted me 17,600 on an f3680 or 16,800 on the 2880 with rear discharge deck. For only $800 difference think I am going to go with the F3680 for the more horsepower. Have to do something between now and the end of the year or I am afraid the 0% interest will be gone. I drove it around on the dealers parking lot and really liked the machine it drove great.
Holy cow!! Those things are expensive$$$! When I first began looking at mowers 3 years ago I started looking at Grasshopper. I really liked the front mount deck for getting under fence rows and tree overhangs. I asked the Kubota dealer about the F-series. He said he hadn't sold any of those in a long time and had quit carrying them. I guess I can see why. At that time I ended up getting a ZD28. I really like it. It has performed well. But the F-series sounds like it may be better with the ability to mow under obstacles and the ability to accept front-end attachments.
Glowplug did you ever try out an F Series, I had an out front toro in high school and loved it. I can't wait to get the F 3689 I know i am going to love using it I tried one out at the dealer and it was really fast and everything on it felt smooth. I will let you know when it comes in. JE
