I gave my tractor a wash yesterday. I sprayed out the gunk from the radiator, and just basically gave it a good bath. Well, when I was all done, I started it up to move it, and the flashers came on!! The switch was still off but the flashers were on. Then I noticed that the glow plug indicator never went off either. Very strange. Obviously some sort of electrical problem. Well I let it sit overnight, then came out the next day, and everything is back to normal! Maybe some water got in somewhere and shorted something out???? That is my only guess. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Yeah, when my rig was new the flashers would come on randomly.. Dealer said it was water in the switch or relay or something..

I had the glow plug light on constantly after washing dust off my tractor under the black cowling below the steering wheel. I unplugged several relays and dried contacts and that took care of it. After that, I decided anything that was electrical could just stay dusty if I couldn't dust it off with a dry brush. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had mine come on durining an ice storm recently. I plan to start keeping my tractor covered.

Everytime I give my TC40 a good washing, I have the same problem with the flashers/turn signals. The first time it happened, it drove me crazy. I was messing with the switches (thinking I turned them on by accident), etc. They would go off for bit, then come back on. One would flash for awhile, then the other. Not much moisture protection in the dash I guess.

Thanks a lot guys for the response. It has saved me a lot of trouble. I was going to take it in to the dealer, but after seeing that it has happened to others, it must be a common problem. Possibly the placement of the relays/switches or something. I will just avoid that area with the water hose next time. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You might spray it with a de-watering agent.. ( silicone spray or wd-40, etc.. or marine electrical contact spray that leaves a residue.. ) Might help inthe future..
