My JD4600 (558 hours) had a Crankshaft Front Seal go bad and start leaking. I had it replaced at the JD dealer this week - part was cheap, labor was the most costly part of the repair (still reasonable considering what they had to do to replace it).

The dealer said they hadn't seen this occur previously on the 4x00 CUTs. Anyone else had this problem?

Also, I run the off-road diesel (higher sulphur content with the cute color). I had read in the service manual where if you use the higher suphur content fuel that you should cut your oil change interval by 1/2. I asked the dealer and he said that the normal off-road stuff (even if it says higher sulphur) wouldn't qualify to change the interval. Anyone have insight into this?

Thanks for the help!

I've been using off road diesel in my machines for years with no problems.
I stick with the recommended oil change intervals.

I believe that off road is now also low sulfur, but not sure if it is ULSD (ultra low sulfur).

I could tell the change from my supplier about a year or so ago - I could really smell the sulfur in my exhaust before, but after the change could not smell it.
