I have one of those fancy safety spouts on my diesel can and I have yet to get the dam thing to work. So I just remove the government approved nuisance spout and use funnel. Uncle Simple stepping on us with over regulation. I have a forty year old metal gas can that's still in service.

Sometimes, you can't find the black ones in the stores as some states don't want them sold as a work around to the 'pollution' rules, Ma is one.
All the stores everywhere have the 'water' (white ones) as water pouring spouts are legal everywhere.
Don't tell anyone, but the only difference between the black one and the white one is the color and the packaging...sssshhhhhh....mum's the word.
