California Faucets ???

I know Kohler, Delta, Peerless, Moen, Price Phister and probably a dozen more names...but I've never heard of California Faucets. Long & short... they any good?

Wife is looking for a VERY specific kind of faucet. One where the handles/spout come out from the wall (Vessel filler). After we clear that hurdle, she's looking for a VERY specific kind of finish. Once we clear THAT hurdle, she's then looking for a matching shower unit with TWO handles...blah blah blah...

By the time we calculate the odds of finding this needle in a haystack, California Faucets is the only one that seems to fit what she's looking for. With me never having heard of them, I'm a bit nervous. I'd MUCH rather have a "name brand" (of which this may be) and give up a bit on the visuals for the sake of known (or perceived) quality.

Any thoughts??

Thanks

I think you go along with 'dear wife' or you will have more trouble than if CA faucets is not a name brand. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Hopefully it will work for years to come, or until the next 'change' is announced. I think you will probably get enough 'time' out of the CA faucet - but just an opinion. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Richard,
No experience with CA faucets. But I just re-did my bathroom and purchased two sink faucets made by Pegasus. I had never heard of them. I was in a Home Depot and compared them to the "name brands" and they were every bit as good or better. Plus my wife liked them so we got them.
So just 'cause they are not a name brand does not mean they are inferior.

Thanks all...I'm aware of the basic issues pointed out. My main reason for concern isn't really for the lavatory faucet...

Well, on second thought yes it is too... My biggest thought is these mixer valves will be BEHIND the drywall (or tile in the shower) and I don't really want to ever have to rip it out & replace it because it was a "second class citizen"... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I understand manufacturing defects in anything manmade, but (not dissing any brands here) I'd feel very comfortable with a Kohler than a brand I've never heard of. Even if it means a compromise on the finish.

So far, no one seems very familiar with the brand. I don't know if they're just a designer/reseller or if they actually manufacture their stuff, like some brands. If they actually made their own stuff, I'd be a bit more comfortable with it.

I've replaced many shower/tub valves from Pfister, Moen and Delta. All required cutting out the rock in the back. I've not done any Kohler but then, they are a relative newcomer to the water valve department from my experience. My worst faucet for repairs is Chicago Faucet. Very nice faucets with terrible water sealing design.

Some days ago I attempted to fix a leaky sink faucet. Could not find the required cartrige and bought a new brand name set that has free parts at the local Hardware Store.

Now I'm under instructions to replace shower fawcet set with new. I will have to take out some wall on the backside. Fortunetly the bathroom is being remodelled so it will only be another step.
