Anyone installed speed up pulley on 318 50\" deck?

Hi,

I have a 318 with a 50" deck. I am considering getting the 'speed up pulley kit', AM116141, about $30. Has anyone installed it, and was the speed up worth it? I am trying to reduce the amount of 'left overs' when mowing. I do have the Power-Flo kit, and it does a tolerable job, but I would like to see if I can improve it.

Rob - I installed the speedup pulley on my 50" deck for my 318. I too have the Power-Flow unit. The speedup pulley, along with the JD medium lift blades are the only way to go. Also, if you want more info on the 318, visit my Web site at JD318 Web Site - Dave

Dave (or anyone) what are the actual diameters of the "speed up" pulley vs. the original? Just to make sure that mine does not already have one installed! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tim - The speedup pulley (AM116141) has an outside diameter of about 6-3/4". The standard pulley (AM39954) has an outside diameter of about 7-1/4". Hope this helps. - Dave
