My neighbour is selling one, it has the V4 Wisconsin engine and open top. She's an older machine but his son says it all works. I'll get it out for a test drive in a day or two.

Can't quite figure out the drive system, I see a cardan shaft from the engine to a right angle gear box and that drives a centrifugal belt system. Looks like jack shafts extend outward from the driven pulley to both sides to drive the wheels. Any idea what kind of drive system is inside the boxes and any way to test out how well they work?

I have some digging to do this spring so I'm think if I can get it cheap enough I'd use is instead of beating on my JD 755 tractor.

I have a 1988 Case dozer and I can tell you from personal experience, Case does not support their older machines. I can get most things for mine, but recently found out that a fan and shroud are no longer items that they have. Before you decide to buy it, make very sure that you can get parts for it. One thing that is 100% garanteed in used equipment is that something will break on it!!

I'd pass unless you really have time & energy to tinker with the gasser and small nooks & crannies. Bobcat old gasser 4 vcyl Ford are really bad starters.

If open top you mean no cage - run away as SS are notoriously unstable.

Having said that the price of the small Case SS are really strong I saw a 1835 600 hours sell today at auction for $6600.

I believe that the 1530B Case skid steer loaders are pre-hydro. I believe you are correct in that it uses a belt/friction drive unit. These skid steers were built from '71-'75 according to my info. While I never ran one, I understand that they function very differently from a hydrostatic drive.

I will second BarryinMN's thoughts on the engine, trans, and lack of roll cage. Instead, I would explore a rental skid steer for your project if it is feasible.

I have a 1530 B case skid steer and would like to know if the rams and drive system run on the same fluid and what type of fluid it uses.

Hi, anyone know if the Transmission fluid and the Hydraulics are one in the same, or where you fill them
