Anyone make there BX snowblade larger?

I have a 54" blade for my BX2230,which I only use for snow clearing.It would be nice to add another 8" to each side and 4" to the top to help clear away snow more quickly.I find the blade to be not high enough most of the time as any snow over 5-6"deep has snow coming over the top even when angled.I really do not need the power angle the 60" blade offers and the height is the same as the 54" so increasing the size of my blade would serve my purpose.I can weld and make the needed parts myself including larger skid shoes.I guess what I really am asking is if the BX will have the needed power to push the extra snow with a 70" blade and the added height.From what I have used this machine so far I think it would not be a problem.I'm sure someone out there has already played with a welder on a snowblade to increase it's size just waiting on your thoughts.Thanks Red

If you're having trouble with a standard 5' blade you might think about switching to a blower instead. You'll run out of traction with your BX before you run out of HP.

Does your blade have tilt? I am thinking that if you tilt it toward the direction the blade is moving, you might get a rolling action. Mine does not have tilt (it was cheap). I already figured it wouldn't work so hot anything more than a few inches. For that there's the FEL--slow, but faster than a shovel.

yes i too had trouble with the snow not rolling off the blade. i have mine on the fel arms mounted with the three points like the bucket does. need traction just lift the arms a little. made mine 67 in. wide and put 6 in. on top. i have that tilted forward about another 30 degrees. i think why the snow don't roll is that the bx don't go as fast as my other tractor did . hope this helps al
