Kubota 7610
I have a Kubota 7610 with a 5' front snowblower for a 1200' gravel driveway . There are times I wish I could push snow(a few inches of wet snow). I also have a Woods 6' landscape rake. I read a couple of posts where people stated they used their landscape rake to push snow. Anyone do that ?

Thanks,
Passaconaway

It's worth a try! I would think the wet snow would push with a rake fine, but I don't have one, so I'm guessing. I have a blade on the back of my BX1800 that I push snow with, depending on the situation, with the blade reversed and working like a plow, or facing forward and pushing against the curved...less agressive side of the blade. Once I get a pile, I use the blower to throw it all into the woods. Dyer, retired

The landscape rake will work fine on a wet snow. Angle it slightly and be careful not to windrow the snow off your driveway. The stone will tend to stick to the snow and you don't want your stone off your driveway. After you make a couple passes and get the bulk of the snow to the edge of your driveway you can follow up with a couple of passes with your rake straight and pop some stone to the surface. You won't get all the snow off with the rake, but you can keep enough stone popped to the surface for adequate vehicle traction. Also the exposed stone will speed up melting the snow when there is a little sunshine.

Buy a 2x6 and bolt it up to the tines using large washers. The effect is a blade as good as you could wish for. Very little snow will drop through. I used this technique with an 8' rake before I stuck a truck plow on the front end.

I use my rake for clearing snow, it works really well for me. I make a couple passes and bring some of the snow to the top for traction and to aid in melting.

A landscape rake isn't going to move the Passaconaway snow :)

Yes, thank goodness someone asked this. About two years ago I made a post about how I felt the combination of a front blade and rear landscape rake is the perfect combination for light to moderate snowfall and folks with--like me--gravel driveways. I got very little response from that post and what I did seemed somewhat skeptical. Using most tools aside from a snowblower I have had a difficult time not moving all the gravel off the driveway, until I got the landscape rake. Unfortunately, I am currently between tractors and will not be able to use it this year. While I did have it, it worked great. It does not do as well in very cold temps where the snow is frozen or stuck together but otherwise did well, without disturbing the gravel--then I used the blade for the other stuff. Hope this helps.

I've tried for the last 2 yrs to clear a drive path in heavy snow using a JD4700 tractor and a Frontier 72" landscape rake. Didn't work very well. Moved some snow, but generally I got mostly a path of recycled snow, sort of like the grooming machines on a ski hill.

What if you took a piece of conveyor belt the width and height of the rake and bolted it on leaving about 1in of the tines exposed so it would leave the gravel behind. This is what I was going to try before I found a rear blade.
