Hello Everyone,
Been a while since my last post, but I am looking for some help with a HydoGear BDU-21L-110 transmission.
I know that it is going to have to be rebuilt, I have been nursing it along for a few years now. My biggest mistake was allowing a friend to look at it, he assembled the pump section backwards, ran it on the tractor for about 5 minutes before he realized something was not working right.
I just tried to buy a new one to replace it, but Hydro-Gear says they no longer have new ones and do not do factory service on them anymore either. I have now decided to do the rebuild myself, especially after what happened before, as I have had this one apart a couple of times since, without any problems, just not making much of a difference in performance.
Now for the problem,
It no longer has much power, especially with the C-Section (center section) gouged where the pump cylinder block was put in backwards. When using the tractor/mower on flat ground it does OK, but not great, but if you try to go up a small incline you may have to resort to pushing. The transmission is making a whining noise like there is not enough pressure in the system, or the pressure is being bypassed, almost like a relief valve stuck open. I have looked at both the left and right relief valves and both seem to be working OK, I'm assuming that the bypass is probabily through the gouge in the C-Section. I am looking for suggestions from someone who has worked with theses units as to what usually needs replaced in a rebuild of the transmission.
My best option I think, is to replace the C-Section, Motor and Pump Cylinder Block Assemblies, and the guts of the charge pump.
Thanks in advance for any help, as I will be needing to use it soon and without a steady income now, buying a new unit is out of the question.
Thanks again,
Steve
