Shopping for a new brake controller. Leaning towards the Valley Odyssey($130) over the Prodigy P3 ($160). The Maxbrake ($350) looks ideal but is a little overkill for my uses.

Thanks, Larry

I have the odyssey II which I think is what you meant. I also have 2 P3's and 1 something else I cannot remember.

The odyssey II was the last one I purchased, and wholeheartedly reccomend it.

I am driving the truck with it in it today. It is on preset 1 right now which is set for the empty trailer, and as they are dumping the gravel in I will switch to preset 3 which is set for 3.5 tons on the trailer. If I was loading mulch it would go to preset 2 which is about half way.

Brake Controller

bought mine here, there is a (or was) a % discount for TBN members and they are a supporter here.

You may not have the situation that I do of multiple drivers, trailers and weights, but the convienince of having the presets is very nice for me.

We have had several discussion's on these in the past that should come up on a search in this forum.

Good luck, if you are looking at this level of controller, I think they are all pretty dang good.

Thanks Allen,

I did do a search and saw you had an odyssey II. I was hoping you would give an update. Glad to hear it is working good. Dos'nt look like too many others though. I am in the same boat as you - 2 trailers, 4 drivers. I do like to support our supporters and SouthWest Wheel looks great.

On a seperate note, I do have to confess. Went out in the greasy NorthEast woods for a ride a couple of weeks ago and was dabbing my feet all over the place. Shame on me :). Bought a new play bike - KTM 200 EXCW, it's a blast.

I run a Prodigy P3 and love it. Don't have a lot of experience with brake controllers, but it has been exemplary in the natural feel of the braking and in the information screen.

I had mis-wired my controller when I first installed (red doesn't always go to red...blue doesn't always go to blue... etc.) and it came up with an error, "Trailer Ground Fault" or something like that. The dealer hooked it up to another truck and the error code was "E4". He needed to go canabalize the instructions from another new controller of the same variety to find out what the heck "E4" meant. It was any one of 3 or 4 different things, one of which was "Trailer Ground Fault". Funny.

Thanks Keith,

That "real english" display on the P3 is a big plus.
