I am getting tired of constant flats on my tractor due to thorns. The wheels are tube type so I am looking for opinions from people who have actually used tube specific sealant please.

I see lots of claims from manufacturers claiming results in tubed tires but what have you tried?

Thanks!

I have Slime in my front tires. I had a flat one day after Sliming. Flat another day after rolling the tractor around after inflating. Tire has held air for the past month after the last reinflate so the Slime actually worked. I have some chunkier tire sealant that works better but it is a pain to pump into the tubes as it is so chunky. Yes Slime can work but there are some better products out there. I have no idea what brand the stuff I have on the shelf. I got it at the Moultrie AG show a while back at the place that sells aircraft tires for tractors. I think I got my chunky sealant from these guys. Navigation 01

I actually had a conversation with the lady who invented UltraSeal a couple of days ago. She formulated it back in the 60's and has done very, very well with the product. The military uses it extensively.

If it weren't for shipping being as high as a gallon of the product (we don't have a dealer in this area), it would already be in my tubes.

Thanks for your opinion on Slime, I have heard many stories of corrosive and poor results with that product.

I'd look for a company that does foam fill. Get the softer formulation. Google it up. You will never have a flat again. The down side is putting new tires on is a chore.

Quick googlization found this.
Flat Proofing, Liquid Tire Sealant, Foam Fill Tires - Ken Jones Tires

Arnco Ecofil: Ken Jones Tire is pleased to announce a brand new line of tire flat proofing material manufactured by Arnco. This revolutionary type of tire foam fill was designed with as much concern about the environment as for your equipment, operators and your bottom line. The result? An exciting new 100% flatproofing formula called Ecofil. This new line of flatproofing fill is largely derived from natural, earthly, renewable resources and requires 50% less oil than traditional tire fills. Oil has always been one of the main components in the manufacturing of tire fill. If the price of oil goes up so does the cost of the tire fill. So, using less oil not only helps conserve a valuable natural resource, it also helps protect our customers against rising prices. And, of course, genuine Arnco flatproofing provides greater cost savings by eliminating tire repair costs, lost wages and productivity due to down time.Ecoflex: Ecofil is currently manufactured in three different grades/formulas to meet particular load, ride and traction needs. At Ken Jones Tire we always strive to give our customers premium products with exceptional value and that is why Ken Jones Tire uses Ecoflex Ecofil flatproofing. Compared to the standard tire foam fills on the market, Ecoflex is much softer and provides an air-like ride. A softer, air-like ride means less axle stress, less bent wheels, less jolts and vibrations, longer tire wear and a broader footprint for increased traction. Other benefits include constant tire pressure for life of tire, extra ballast for improved stability and elimination of blow out hazards. It is the ideal tire flatproofing solution for lawn tractors, skids steers, golf course equipment, farm tractors, backhoes, trenchers, utility vehicles and construction equipment. Major OEM's such as Mustang and Gehl have approved Ecoflex for the use on their machines. Eliminate 100% of flat tires with Ecoflex....Just Fill It and Forget It !

What is the Ecoflex process ? Pumped into the tire through its valves stem, Arnco's liquid flatproofing polymer replaces all of the air and cures to a resilient rubber-like core in 24-48 hours. All foam filling is done at our place of business. The process includes 1) Inspecting your tire and wheel for defects. 2) Prestretching the carcass overnight. 3) Pumping the tire fill into the tire at the correct temperature. 4) Pressurizing the tire to the recommended inflation pressure. 5) Curing at the proper time and temperature to insure optimum filled tire performance.

Good information, thanks.

A couple of thoughts on that are it adds over 400lbs to the back tires alone and cost, I talked to a local company that fills tires and they want over $600 per tire to fill. Also my land is very wet most of the year and airing down the tires is needed a lot of times.

Nothing rolls here with tires that don't have some sort of sealer. The mesquite thorns are just deadly. I put slime in all off road tires. I buy ti from walmart in gallon containers. Motorcycle shops also sell it by the gallon they usualy have the black stuff don't remember the name.

Simoniz has a line of sealers that seems ok for tubed or tubeless tires. I've used Slime for decades in m-cycle tires/tubes, but this look better to me for tractors & off-road equipment:
Sealtite Off-Road - Simoniz USA
It doesn't look to cheap or easy to install, but what's an ounce of prevention worth with downtime at stake?

We always used Pneuma Seal in tires that people had problems with. It wont rust or harm the rims
like Slim will. You can drill a 1/4 inch hole in the tire and it will seal it up!
