JD 4400, JD LT160
Looking for a loader for my JD 4400 and wonder about saving a few bucks on a Westendorf or other loader. Am I wasting my time or will they do the job? Lifting 5x5 ~1200lb bales.

I have a Bush Hog loader on my Cub. It will lift 1200 lbs. It was sturdier and specced out better than than the Cub loader (made by Woods). It comes off pretty quick, but is a bugger to put back on. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was able to buy the Bush Hog QT 2425 loader for less than the Westendorf and it has performed very well for me. My tractor is the original "Orange", A-C 175. I regularly handle two 1 ton rolls of hay, one on the loader spear and the other on the TPH. The loader is available in colors to match most major brands.

If I were you I would get a GB loader model 260, with a HD qiuch tatch bucket. The GB cost less than JD and will lift more weight by far. I have picked up 1800LBS bale with mine (only to prov a point) I also have a pallet fork for a late model skid steer ( new $600) and there the same QT. it works good for big bales. I have lifted 4' x 8' sheet goods off the trucks that weigh 1600 LBS and it works. Just drive slow on LEVEL ground

Do yourself a favor...Buy a Deere loader...there is no loader on the market that will fit-up like a Deere loader, and no loader on the market that one can remove as easy...

Parts are available through the dependable Deere parts system..and you will have a loader that was designed specifically for your tractor..A loader with more lift capacity can result in damage to your tractor and also result in unsafe operation.

I have looked very seriously at Deere loaders but am hesitant about the price. Lowest quote for a 430 loader 61" bucket and pallet forks is $4000. That is a good down payment on a larger tractor that I can bale w/ and use the tph spear (both cat I &II) I already own.

Does'nt SMC make Deer's loaders, the 430 anyway? (Schwartz) Most OE's do not make there own loaders.
