Would any owners of Jinma or other brands of chinese backhoes care to comment on construction quality, usefullness, potential problems.

I'm looking at trying one and as wondering also if they seem to operate better with PTO pump and reservoir or running them off the tractor hydraulics.

Thanks guys
Nick

Hi stnickstoys

I have/own a JW-03 back hoe, it came with my JINMA when I bought it, as did a friends (we got ours together as a deal, both got FEL HOE combos with 284's. we also got tillers, (Not like the ones HOMIER sells ours are better center gear drive) I also got 5' finish mower.

here is jist: Hoes work OK (new ones are PROBABLY a bit different than ours, ours are 2002 units.) ours had the updated hoe PINS to keep the center cyl piviot points from expanding and popping out if you side shifted while bucket was down in hole or to PUSH sideways in a pile. still they don't have as much PRESSURE to make that much damage.

I run mine at 1200~1500 RPM so maybe 300 PTO rpm on the pump, plenty of pressure & speed at that RPM. run at PTO speed they are jerky but and can snap the center elbow pitiot cylinder rod @ the weld if not carefull. running lower they are OK, but still need to be aware that they cam over at the full bottom out spot which can snap the ram end off. it knocks out stuck mud doing it but repeatadly doing it weakens it and it will eventually break, HIS dad broke his when doing a elec trench some 600 feet long dad did it when he wasn't there so he maybe DROPPED it at ful extension as it was dads first day running it. they will FALL fast if moved down and out or curl as the HYD VALVE system lets the pressure HOLDING BOOM UP to flow into the EXTEND cylinder when using both movements at once this is biggest thing that you have to GET USED TO but not all to much of a problem.

I think more commercial units will not let this happen? all in all it is a good units, FOR THE PRICE. I think we got about 2400 into ours with shipping each with the machines.

digging depth is good to 4' or so then time slows way down, (can only move a foot or two where less than 4' deep you can move several feet. before repostioning.) mine cacn dig to about 6' but that last 12" is really really slow! 5' is bad enough though... I used mine this past week for about 5 tractor hrs already, pulling stuimps, rocks and digging & burrying old rotted logs and creating motorcycle jumps in the woods. I also dug a 3.5~4.5' deep by 150' elec service trench took about (3 hrs run time for that) my brother ran it sume and nearly tipped over tractor as he tried to SWING the rear of tractor across the PIT using the back hoe! it DOES pick it up easly BUT the swing power is not well or good enough to MOVE it sideways, it goes sideways and DOWN as the off center makes the tractor & hoe TWIST and the rear tire dropped into the already dug pit, (he was back filling) I was albe to get it out and off in about 3 min. scared him though and he hasn't wanted to get back on very much! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif More seat time for me! lol)

as for the tillers, I have not broken a single tine, still have 2 full sets. he broke 3 first day but when he installed them he put his in backwards and since has not broken 1 after turning them around.

mower (not same as hoimier either)
(stay away from) didn't save enough to put up wiht it's head achs. wheels are junk, blades are way too brittle belts bad and single pullies with narrow spaced bearing spindles. deck is GOOD almost 1/4" thick, but still not worth it paid 900. then and new USA is not much more and good used is same or less...

just my 2 cents worth

if you want some photos or anything let me know

Hey Mark, thanks for the feedback. I too would just be digging around in my yard, woods etc. No major digging. More of a big sandbox toy than anything. Maybe some holes for planting trees etc.

sticks &Stones:

well remember when I HADN'T broken any of the cylinders!?!? wwelll I spoke TOO SOON /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I broke my Hoist Cylinder yesterday and fixed it today. I was banging around on some big rocks and have been hearing some CLUNKING but wasn't very loud. well I had the TLB backed up to the creek bank, and was in process of removing a rock about 300~400lbs from the other side of the bank, was ON THE EDGE with full extension and using bucket teeth only to pry it loose. well a bit of lifting & banging too... then a finally got a tooth hooked in back I gave it a yank up/back and poped the end off the cylinder, when I stated my other buddy said that it was a poor design he was correct. they have the ROD machined / plated size of about 1.25~1.5" dia. then they cut it down to about .75" and cut threads into this to form a bolt like end on the ROD. they then take the cast steel eyelet and tap a hole into it so it threads onto the rod end. then WELD it on. well the Tapped END of the EYELET is weekended by the drilling out the .75 hole and then threads also weeken it more. there is only about 1/4~5/16" thich material is then left to Support the eyelet ends. mine broke like his did at the base of the drilled in hole and at the end where they weld & grind it smooth. not a hard fix, or too bad of a design, they just need a smaller holle or larger end eyelet to hold onto the rod . also it has 5 cylinders that are all the same size/design. so they can be inter changed if one bbreaks, I didn't realize this right away but I ended up hafing to weld it up and so I switched the broken one for a good one that had lots of easy access to weld on. and welded it up, it sure ain't pretty as I haven't stick welded in years. got used to mig welding but my LITTLE mig is too small. I welded it back up to rod dia using MG600 and then a couple passes of 7018 which l basically built the rod section up to be larger than it was. it shouldn't break there again, but then who knows. easy enough fix just PITA. but like I said in above post it is good light duty mach, but I was banging it really hard, should have known better! lol /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I'll try and remember to take camera & smap a few shots of the rocks I was banging on.

I also chipped a bucket tooth. and was going to hard face that but it was DOWN to raise bucket up at time and I forgot about it... maybe later this weekend.

my buddy was painting a bunch of STINER front end tooth bars today, Black Powder Coat and some of the mower deck rollers too. looked really nice but he wouldn't let me sneek one into my truck for my loader! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sorry but I think $4800 was well spent on mine...

hummm:

4800 - 2400 (high estimate) = 2400 left for odds & ends my repair cost $4.00 worth of welding rod and 3 hrs time. so i think i'm still ahead by about $2300.00 so I think I could rebuild the hole thing and still be ahead!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

anyhow I know the import stuff is not for everyone, I'm telling it like it is, no if's and's or BUTTS (insert a FULL MOON here) lol J/k /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif the JW03 hoe is bigger than the boss's Green hoe, but he can get his on /off much faster becasue of 3pt mount, but mine is FRAME mount which is considerably stronger. yesterday I took my fixed cylinder and HOE out and dug out the BIG rock. couldn't quite LIFT the rock, so I chained it and drug it with the back hoe out of the hole then pushed it with FEl rest of the way to the rock pile... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif the one I broke it on was also removed yesterday and piled up. then dug a patch into the creek with the hoe drove on in and pushed out the bank and piled up other side so I can now get into/out form the creek in a 4th spot or 5th spot, (starting to loos tract) I also piled up gravel from an in-accessable spot and dug out the bank there and filled it in with gravel so when it packs/drys I SHOULD be able to get in/out there too...

I have many more BIG rocks to get out, but the grass is growing mad so I'll have to pull the hoe this week and get the 3pt back into use for mowing. going to take photos today if I ever get off here pouring rain now though /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif No problem Spiker! I have said before that I enjoy your posts and I meant that FOR ME the $4800 was well spent... I need mine to do work, not to work on, but no biggie...

One point I did want to make is that you can get a domestic hoe for a whole lot less that the over $7K prices I keep seeing...

As to mount setups, the current Deere hoes are frame mounts (I didn't know that there was ever a 3 point one...) and are as strong as anything out there. They really do go on or off if a flash, and work great!

Glad you are happy with yours!!

no probl:

that 4800 is pretty good, I think boss paid 6300 for his green one... (fits his 3310 or soemthign like that, some sort of plate it locks into) his uses tractor hyd. mine has own pump running from pto. (bolts on in-place of a cover above the PTO shaft.) once pump is removed cover needs to go back on,

not sure what the blue & orange ones cost?

anyhow I like you're posts too! had ot have soem fun.!
