My wife struggles with the 6 gallon gas can. I was about to buy her a smaller 2.5 can but saw these battery pimps that are gas rated, have high reviews, and are cheaper than the new can

Thoughts?

Here my set up. 55 gal plastic drum, 12V pump, automatic pistol all powered from the tractor. The socket has full time 12V and switched 12 V terminal. The switched terminal is used for a 3 point sprayer. Alternatively I could have used the trailer socket that has power on when the key and lights are on but I decided to use separate socket.

Hi Carl,
Sorry, but I had to chuckle a bit, If I bought my wife a battery operated pimp, should would kill me:) I know what you meant to say, I am the king of misspellings, especially when they count. I looked up the pumps, and they have good reviews from what I can tell. They pump about 5 gallons in about 3.5 minutes, but I guess the only question is weather she will be able to keep the can on the ground, or have to hold it there for that amount of time. I did find one on Amazon that is only $17 and has an auto stop and buzzer when what ever you are filling is full, so it dosen't overflow. I have 5 gallons cans, and my wife has a hard time lifting them, and I have bad shoulders from the military, I have a hard time filling the tractor occasionally from where the gas cap is on the hood. I think that I am going to buy one, and I think that it is a great idea. I'm sure that you could probably modify one with an extension hose attached to the bottom, so the tank can sit on the ground. The only question I have is the 4 wheeler she uses to haul manure is gasoline, and the tractor is diesel. Do I need to separate pumps, or will a bit of residue harm the other fuel system? Anyways, I think that it would be a great investment for your wife, and I am very happy that you gave me the idea also, Thanks, and sorry about the spelling error comment:)

I didnt find a link with Woodland Hills post for type pump but it for sure isnt the kind Redneck in Training has because I have on similar to that (FillRite 12v 15GPM and it is over $300 with filter, hose and autoshutoff nozzle. Never tried the little battery powered ones like Mitch posted. They would be kind of slow for filling a tractor and might even require a change of batteries but might be great for those 1 to 2 quart lawnmower tanks. I get a little antsy waiting on my pump to fill my tractors 26 gallon tank with the 15 gpm rating which really doesnt pump 15 gpm thru the restricted filter, maybe it would without any restriction. I am thinking more like 5 gpm actuality.

Pimps... Ha... Big fingers and stupid auto correct on my iPad....

Here is what I am looking at

[ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VVF9AG/ref=gno_cart_title_2]Amazon.com: TERAPUMP (TM) TRHD03 2D Battery Operated Liquid, Gas, Water, Oil Transfer Pump with With Auto-Stop System (Leak protection) and Buzzer: Home Improvement[/ame]

I would think mixing would be no big deal. I do wonder what the pump height limit is as ou Polaris is relatively tall.

Just a thought, but what about plumbing in an online electric fuel pump. Have a short hose with a small ball valve to keep out dirt and prevent leaks. All she would need to do is pull up next to the gas can, open the valve, drop it on the can, flip the electric switch and wait till it is full. Keeps down cross mixing fuels because each pump is dedicated.

I used a cheap one for a while and found it to work ok, but it didn't last long (about a year). If i get another one I'll opt for something that's a little higher end (think the original one was less than $15). I would also opt for 12v or plug-in, battery operated ones don't sit well if they're in an unheated space and its cold

I use a kerosene pump for diesel fuel and don't have a problem.
just don't use it for gasoline the sparks from the brushes and fumes don't mix.
