The boom pole-for transport only--is a great idea. I do it.
But the harrows on a 3-pt lift arrangement don't work well because they are too close to the tractor and don't lay flat enough and are forced to NOT follow the ground by staying in close proximity to the rear of the tractor. I tried it and was unhappy because they didn't follow the contour and did not have that "sweeping" action necessary to smooth and distribute the soil into a level surface.
