I have a friend that's looking to purchase an M59 and the Kubota dealer told him Kubota doesn't make their own 4n1 bucket, which is fine. I'm just wondering if anyone is using a 4n1 and if so what brand, and have you been happy with it? Thanks for your help.

I have a Construction Attachments 80" ("severe extreme duty") 4n1 bucket on my M59. It is very well engineered and built, very heavy duty - and also very heavy, but all the 4n1 buckets seem to be twice the weight of a normal bucket. I just got it however so can't report on much experience using it. I am still fiddling with it to control the flow to the bucket with a restrictor or needle valve, as the normal flow from the front auxiliary hydraulics will blast the bucket open or close in a flash.

I bought a M5040 cab in 2010 and it came with a Kubota branded 72 inch 4n1 bucket. The Kubota ID tag says it is a Model L2245

Corey, I will pass along your info to my friend ,thanks!

Tbar, thanks for the info on the CA bucket. Those 4n1 buckets need to be heavier built or else they wouldn't hold up to the abuse. If I'm following you, you're saying that the aux hydraulics to the front of the machine aren't proportional, it's either on or off?

Beemerphile, thanks for that but I think the M59 is 78" wide so that bucket would be too skinny and wouldn't cover the footprint of the tires.

The M59 front hydraulics are electrically actuated via momentary switches on the loader control hence are full-on/off. Basically it is a bear trap without a some additional hardware to restrict the flow. The same would be true for something like a grapple. For the next guy that goes through this, it is likely that the hydraulic hoses will have a JIC connector, and a fixed orifice restrictor will probably be NPTF male and NPSM female - NPSM is a swivel connector that mates with any modern NPTF male coupler.

Back when I was shopping for the M59 (about 2012) Kubota had some sort of 4n1 listed for the L39 I was looking at at the time, however I don't see anything listed in the 2013 Wholegoods catalog for the M59 other than the standard bucket. Yes, they do need to be a pretty beefy bucket to avoid bending when clamping down via the hydraulics. Plus there are three cutting edges. So the weight is justified - however the M59 has a loader lift capacity of 3-4K so it can handle the bucket. I checked out the Blue Diamond bucket out of curiosity; it is a bit over 1000 lbs too, close to the weight of the CA bucket (first I heard of Blue Diamond, amazingly they seem to make about every attachment made).
