I haven't spent much time on it, but if you use it (like I have yet to do) to get your clients to friend you, your posts will show up on their personal pages as updates and possibly bring in more business from their friends. Clients can also post their experiences working with you on your page.

You've been Liked. In addition to FB, you should also create a company page under LinkedIn, www.linkedin.com

Facebook is for friends & family
LinkedIn is for colleagues & clients
Google replaces the phone book

IMHO, your web site is great, http://trlandworks.wordpress.com/ but needs address and phone number on every page. The search engines look for a common address and a unique URL when indexing sites.

But most importantly, edit your company under Google Maps.
http://maps.google.com/maps/place?r...t&ct=map-marker-link&resnum=1&ved=0CCsQrwswAA
(Edit this place Business Owner ?) in upper right of map.

Once you edit the company profile, the Google search engines will place your company and web site much higher in the listings.

Best of all; Facebook, LinkedIn & Google are free to the user & company.
Don't waste your money on the phone book.

TRLandworks.com is available from GoDaddy at $11.99/year, less than the cost of today's lunch.

I use Phonebook. Everyone's in it.. :) Seriously, I had a Facebook page.. wasn't much and didn't want to spend time on it when I have a website. I rather my customers not see what my family is up to day to day because you never know when a crazy friend will say something... crazy or offensive. I still haven't discounted the whole idea but not seeing a lot of benefit (yet).

You actually set up a FB business page which is separate from your personal page, so no personal stuff is seen.

RDrancher, Very nice web site: http://www.durabledriveways.com/
My only suggestion is to delete "(A 5% Additional Charge Applies)" from the web site. Negative sounding conditions can be an obstacle to getting a phone call for estimates.

McCaskey - Thanks. The site isn't what I really want, but it's all I can do at present given the economy. Thanks for the suggestion on the 5%. It helps to have others take a look at things from a different perspective.

The 5% is now gone from my site and all other online advertising
