Apprehension buying new models

So JD is coming out with their new subcuts and have heard some say they would rather not buy a new model, let someone else find all the bugs. I can understand that but has any of the big tractor companies ever had a new model that had significant problems that caused others to stay away?

Would you stay away from a new model from JD, Kubota, Massey, NH?

I guess the abrupt stop of the Kubota 50 series is all I can come up with.

I don't know about tractors, but I canceled an order for a 2007 Tundra and bought a slightly used 06 and sure am glad I did. My son in law has had two of the new ones and has a 2010 now which he loves, but the first year was sure grim.

I seriously doubt there will be problems with the new JD, but I will let someone find out.

Well, perhaps one might put the 50 series BX in that category of recent new models that just didn't hit on all cylinders, and Kubota moved quite quickly to scrap it (revise it) and built the 60 series to replace it. Very successfully, I might add.

Not that everyone hated the 50, but way too many got "the word" and sales were at stake. Between the plastic issues and quick jerk trans, its great new ideas just weren't.

That's an example that came to my mind as well.

Biggest concern would be the EPA Tier 4 engines and this would be for all brands.

There is a lot of misinformation regarding the durability of first year products (tractors and automobiles). Engineers are human and make mistakes, but the level of testing that a new vehicle goes through before making it to production is extremely extensive. No manufacturer is looking to rush a product to market so that the customer can de-bug issues and force a recal. I would not shy away from any new launch.

Getting into JD's ag market initial recalls, 4000,30series,7000series 8000 series to get started with 50 hour dismantles as well as a couple of more smaller ones.

I would want to try to learn more about the new line up. Who is going to be the actual producer's of the new line up. Is JD going to be the actual producers, or did they replace Yanmar as a producer?

You can check on the web site TractorData.com - information on all makes and models of tractors and learn more about some tractor models and see how long the tractor model stayed on the market. Some brands change model line up because of the production price of a model has them at higher costs.

Models that do well with the brand name stay on the market longer.

Nothing beats testing environments like real life. Regular users just do things that nobody in the manufacturing industry would ever consider.

One exception that SPRINGS to mind is Microsoft!
