Are the YM155 and YM165 identical?

Sometime this winter I'll again be working on the YM165D rebuild & got to wondering some things. First of all, my old Yanmar dealer always believed that the YM155 (green) and the YM165(red) were identical in every way except for color. Does anyone know if that is true or not?

And I'm also wondering if the standard YM165D loader frame leaves enough space under the tractor to mount a Yanmar belly mower. I've never used a tractor for mowing, but it would be fun to give it a try. Old photos show the fit to be too close to call. The loader frame is a nice one and runs back to the rear end.

You may already have it but this parts manual shows dimensions on the 155.

Hey scotty. My 147D and the 167D aren't too much different in spec. I run a Woods belly mount with the loader on with no issue. Could be different with yours.

I just seen you have a Ym165 not a ym167. May be completely different.

I don't know either. That sheet you posted on the YM160 & YM167 is the very first time I've ever seen those two tractors listed. Thanks for that, because I didn't even know that a 160 or 167 existed. Certainly I've never seen either one. When I get home in a couple of weeks I'll take a look at our 165 and also at our old literature library & see how close the 160/167 comes to our YM165.

Reason I asked specifically about the YM155 versus the YM165 is partly because my old dealer said the only difference was the paint and maybe the injector geometry.... And partly because if I can use YM155 parts to rebuild the YM165 it will be a lot easier. There were a lot of the old green YM155s sold.

Interesting. I haven't noticed that before but all of the major assembly part numbers that I just compared were the same on the 155 and the 165. The 155 does have some design changes and it looks like the 165 just uses the newer versions. I learned something new today.
