Actually, I have a friend who purchased a GC2300, without the FEL, and then removed the 3PT. hitch and put it in a box. All he does is mow grass with it.

When I purchased mine.............it was on the lot with no FEL, I ordered it seperately, and the dealer set it up.

Yeah that's the way my first one was. In fact my first Massey has a bush hog brand loader. That at was 15 years ago. You friend must have a mmm. I wonder why he removed the hitch. There isn't that much weight there.

He said he had no need for it. He purchased the Massey just to mow grass.

That's what I thought till you consider the lifespan of this new MTD crap, and the price you pay for them.

The large Cub Cadet that you see at Lowes or TSC, will last 5 to 6 years if you are lucky, and the retail is at 6 grand.

For four grand more, a SCUT can be obtained that will last most people the rest of their lives, with minimal maintenance in most cases. The fuel savings alone during that time period makes up for the price difference.

I agree 100% with that Don. Cant believe the amount of money some of those box store mowers are going for.

I'll second that. Even though they are expensive you get what you pay for. They look a lot nicer too.

I'll be in the market for a new mower in a year or 2 and that is certainly an option I am looking at.

I was quoted yesterday a $2000 discount if I paid cash. With money so cheap why does paying cash lead to such a large discount?

The 2000 dollar discount is the amount being charged for the 0% percent interest for those who chose to finance. Cash price $14,000 - 0% percent financing price $16,000. Nothing in life is free regardless of what people say. Same is true when buying a car or truck. If a dealer says same price cash or finance run away don't walk.

Some simple math: $2k on $16k is 12.5% for 1 year or 4% interest over 3 years. With interest rates on 10 year Treasury notes below 2% the question stands.
