Here is a news article below talking about the future of oil.

Shortened Long Link

Terry

MikePA: Cleaned up long URL. Please review your message before posting it. It's simple not to do this. Just insert a descriptive word or two between the {url=http://whatever}Enter words here{/url} instead of the entire URL. Replace parentheses {} with square brackets in previous example.

Alerternatively, if you use the Instant Markup language URL link, the first prompt is for the URL. The second prompt is for a description. Do not simply paste in the URL again. Type a short description of the link.

Just one persons opinion. I have a friend that worked on the oil pipelines in Texas as well as on oil rigs, back in the 1950's & 1960's. He has told me for many years long before the oil crisis, that the worlds oil reserves have been overstated by the US oil drilling companies and that the US reserves have been understated. He also told me that this was done to protect the US reserves from being depleted. It was the intention of the US Government and the oil drilling companies to first deplete the rest of the world and keep ours as backup when ever that time comes. His opinion was that there is still plenty of oil to be had in the oil fields outside of the country, and that the price might rise, but the amount of oil will not run out. Presently the problem is that China and India are using more oil than ever before. There is an point where you can not get any more oil out of a well in any given 24 hour period. If there were a way to extract it faster, then the production would increase and the demand would be satisfied. The next thing that will come about is the drilling of more wells to extract it from the ground faster. That is why you see fields of oil wells, not just one giant one.

It was the intention of the US Government and the oil drilling companies to first deplete the rest of the world and keep ours as backup when ever that time comes This makes pretty much sense. I can't believe that any administration that I can remember could have thought of it much less put it in action. If I had oil in the ground I think I would be wondering how much it be worth in 10 or 20 years.

When posting a link, why not take the extra 2 seconds and name it. This way really long links won't stretch the page out.

A current theory is that oil deposits do not come from decayed dinosaurs.

Personally, I always thought that theory to be rediculous. I dont have a better theory, but rotting carcases producing that much oil? Maybe we should rethink the way we bury our dead if thats the case.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
