We whoop it up with our friends up at the cottage. Just got back from a midnight skating party, complete with champagne and all at midnight. Funny thing. It was snowing nicely and heavily right up until the time we took the pictures at midnight, and then all of a sudden the wind became fierce and the snow blew sideways at almost 90°. Weird.

Working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, so we celebrated Wednesday...beer and pizza (oh I miss real Chicago pizza) and played a couple games, my 92 year old Dad made it till 10:30 :drink:

I used to do the wine, women and song thing on New Years Eve, but the last seven or eight years, it's just been beer, the old lady and TV!

Not much to do around here on New Years unless you want to drive an hour or so to do it, so we just stay home now.

We stay home where it was safe and sound.

We always stay home. Both go to bed early all year so we don't stay up for new year. We have a nice meal and maybe some shrimp around 8ish then watch some rockin eve till tired. First one up always says happy new year with a kiss to the other. Simple life at it's best.

Stayed at home as we usually do. I participated a bit in what is called Straight Key Nite or SKN on amateur radio. Where you break out the old "straight keys" for use on Morse code and a lot of guys also use period appropriate radio equipment. Old stuff (antiques) usually put up on a shelf and collecting dust. I don't have any old radios, but I do have an old WWII era navy straight key so I used that with my solar/battery powered backup radio. Many amateur radio operators still use Morse code but most will send it either with an electronic keyer or computer keyboard.

SKN give us an opportunity once a year to remember our roots and have some fun doing things "the old way".
