I have a '95 Ariens ZTR residential grade mower. The other day something got caught on a reservoir feed line and broke the plastic fitting going into the left drive unit. I did not realize it until it started making a hydraulic whine but it only ran probably 200 feet before I shut it down. I repaired the fitting and refilled the reservoir. Figured the system would self-bleed but it still has not. I have run it forward and reverse a lot and have seen air bubbles feed back into the reservoir. Sometimes it will pull fine then get weak and not pull like the other side. Right side is smooth in operation. Reverse it for a bit and it will start pulling fine again. Is there a bleed sequence I need to follow? Did not find anything in the manual except that the drives are non-serviceable. Calls for DTE 20 hydro fluid and I put DTE 18M in the reservoir. I know that there is virtually no difference in the oil viscosity so that should not be a factor. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Billy bjscoot2@yahoo.com
