To All:

Are there any products in the marketplace better than Armor-All at preventing/minimizing UV and ozone degradation to rubber and vinyl? Jay

Two extremes. One would be shelter to keep it out of the sun, or you can go the cheap route, and just get a good coat of mud on it so the sun can't get to it.:D

303 Aerospace Protectant - we use it on plastic and vinyl on boats. Good stuff, but not so easy to find unless you have a marine store nearby, or go mail order.

Thank you for the 303 tip :D. Right now I am protecting my plastic, rubber, and vinyl with dirt ;). Jay :)

In the old car world, we abhor Armor All. I personally don't like it because it attracts dirt and really does not seem to help the plastics. There are people out there who claim extreme issues with Armor All (that if you stop using it your plastic goes south - that it has chemicals that ruin paint and plastic.

I just hate the wet look except on a show car...

Yup--- I posted in another thread that ArmorAll has actually been found to cause problems. I've owned boats where the upholstery supplier has specifically said NOT to use ArmorAll as it will void the warranty, they recommended 303 if you use anything.

As I read these threads I am having a "flashback" to the days when I worked in a garage. I "remember" that Armor All created problems if one tried to maintain the "wet look". I will look into the "303". Jay

crbr: If you are VP then I am either Secretary and/or Sargeant-At-Arms of the RJ Fan Club and I am still looking for the hat ;). I/We should check in with the CEO. Jay :D
