While shopping for a series III Boomer, I noticed that the flasher lights appeared to be the same exact kind as found on JD4200+ tractors. JD has armor for their flasher lights for $28/pair and it appears that the bolt holes match perfectly with the holes in the flasher lights of Series III Boomers. The armor does not protect the lenses, but does (perhaps) prevent the lights from being broken off by tree limbs. In case there is a concern about green color, be advised that the armor is black in color, so it would not contaminate the appearance of these fine tractors. Disclaimer--although I held one of the armor pieces up to a Boomer's rear flashers and it appeared to fit perfectly, I didn't remove the flasher and attempt to attach the armor since I didn't purchase the tractor. This is an inexpensive addition that might prevent some broken flashers.

Mike,
I don't know if you are familiar with the break-away flashers on the Boomers (TC18 - TC33), but as an owner of a TC29D, I discovered how well they work to protect the flasher assembly within the first hour of operation. No armour here, but the base has a spring loaded pivot that lets the flasher assembly bent backwards or forwards, and returns to the upright position after the "encounter". I love 'em and am glad they came on my Big Blue.

Boomerboy--yep, I am familiar with the breakaway flashers on the Series II Boomers--it kinda looked like they are mounted with a rubber hinge that allows the entire light to bounce back after bending because something hit it--GREAT IDEA that could be used on lots of compact tractors regardless of their color.

Nah, Mike, don't need it on my orange tractor since the Kubota designer was smart enough to put the lights inside the ROPS where they ought to be instead of outside like the New Holland./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Bird--apparently Kubota engineers improved upon the design of my highly valued past 8200HST since its flashers were on the fenders outboard of the ROPS--never broke a flasher, but turned them around a few times. Of course you are correct in that mounting the flashers inboard of the ROPS would solve the issue of rubber shock mounting or armor. I have replaced 6 flasher lenses thus far on my JD4400--they are easily broken and could be constructed of polycarbonate for the $12 each that they cost. It would be possible to mount my flashers inboard of the ROPS except those same mounting holes hold my rear worklights. Maybe if I moved my rear worklights up a little higher and remounted the flashers inboard---hmmmmm, ya got me to thinking and on a Sunday too.

I'm glad someone's thinking on a Sunday, because I can't./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I can't remember now whether the lights were inside or outside on my B7100, but I know I never broke one. I do like them on the inside like my B2710 and that was one of the first things I noticed about my cousin's TC29D, but if they're going to be on the outside, that spring loaded mount is good.

The folding lights are good but not fullproof. I broke the cable inside the spring that holds it all together with a branch & am now trying to put it all back together... The lense didn't break. Be carefull.
