I finally finished my LAST 2 yr contract and now I'm free, well not free but a lot less monthly bill.
About 6 months ago, I talked to a neighbor about his phone carrier and he had been happy with it for several years. I kept paying the $152.00 a month till my contract was up. Now the same two phones with same talk, text and data is $61.75 a month. Sure feels good to save some $$$ and no contract. DirectTV is the next on the list to go.

I don't know. Often if I can't sleep, I watch the many vintage AT&T (Western Electric & Bell System) videos on You Tube. They make me feel warm and fuzzy so I can sleep.

I feel your AT&T pain. I tried to become their customer earlier this year but failed. It turned out to be an exercise in frustration. The CSRs are untrained and apathetic.

I've had DirecTV for many years. In the past 5 years the monthly bill has doubled but programming is the same. Unfortunately a viable alternative is difficult when you live in the boondocks.

I haven't had a reason to call a CSR, no problem with the service, just so expensive. When I switched, I had to get my pass word for my account with AT&T and had a hard time with that because the rep had such a heavy accent that I had to keep having him to slow down and repeat everything over. I've talked to three different reps with the new service and all of them spoke american.

Funny thing. We bundled all our services (Cell, satellite) to AT&T and upped to unlimited data and we're now saving $100/mo over our previous costs. Dish Satellite was one of the worst. We started at $79/mo. and it ballooned to $180/mo. in the 3 or so years we had it. They're all a racket and get you in on a cheap price but continue to raise it as you take your eye off the automatic payments.

ATT owns DirecTV and they are trying to buy Time Warner. I say no to that.

I have a cheapie phone bill and have already dropped DirecTV.

As they say, YMMV. :) I've had AT&T cell service for many years. I've always found their Customer Service to be outstanding.

Milkman do you care to share who you moved to for your mobile carrier?

and have you had any chance to compare signal strength/data speed etc ?

How much was your early out penalty with ATT? My early out was $225. The savings with my new provider is $55 a month. I took the early out with 4 months to go, net cost to get out was $5.

Stuck a huge old style TV antenna above the rafters in the garage the same month and told Charter what they could do with the monthly cable bill.

Being FREE is AWESOME!

AT&T is gone, good riddance.

I have a family plan, 4 lines, we have unlimited (3mbs) data, unlimited talk and text, and everyone pays $47 per month.

I have never had probs with AT&T customer service.

I don’t pay for internet or TV at the house, just cell.

I did take advantage of switching to T-Mobile, was on there network for 2 weeks and I switched back to att, T-Mobile’s service wasn’t worth the lower bill.

I have been with att for 7 years now and always go back to them.

I also pay retail for my phone so I don’t have to hassle with the AT&T next program or contracts. My current phone is the IPhone 8 plus. $47 per month is owned phone with no insurance or extras paying monthly out of contract.
