I just finished my pole barn project. Now that it is up, I got this great idea on how to improve it (after the fact, of course). I have 36 feet of south-facing wall that would be ideal to support a lean-to greenhouse. A greenhouse in my neck of the woods needs to be pretty well insulated if I want to use it during the winter. That means to me an insulated foundation on a footer below the frost-line.
Therein lies my dilemma and my questions. How might I go about abutting a footer and concrete block foundation up against the pole barn? Also, how do I dig my trench without disturbing the poles that are set in concrete? The barn does not have a slab poured, as of yet.
Anyone do this sort of thing before or have any thoughts?
