I have a Deere 4320 compact with an H180 self-leveling loader. I've used front-end loaders my whole life, but never one of the newer quick-attach models. I watched some Youtube videos before attempting to remove it the first time, and the process looked quite simple, but the loaders in the videos were not self-leveling. The instructions for my loader are more complex. I have to tilt the bucket down about 20 degrees before pushing down to lift the front tires off the ground. Later in the process, this complicates matters because when I bring the bucket back to level (as has to be done to relieve pressure in the hoses), things start to move around, sometimes a little unpredictably. I'm wondering: Is the only reason for tilting the front edge of the bucket down the fact that unless you do this, there is not enough travel in the main cylinders to lift the front tires off the ground? If that is the case, can I simply place some thick lumber under the bucket (which will allow me to get the front tires off the ground without tilting the bucket) and then proceed to detach the loader as one would a non-self-leveling one? It's a little unnerving to have the loader moving back toward you after it's loose, and the whole process is confusing. Does anybody know of a video of this specific FEL being removed and attached? Thanks.
