When is the best time of the year to be purchasing attachments for your summer needs? Is there such a time where dealers are more willing to trade with you?

When you need it, and No.

With the price of steel continuing to climb the sooner the better is the time to buy..

New, used?

I buy used implements whenever I find one I need. I've bought them from dealers, at auctions and by private sale. Time of year has not been a big swinger so far.

New: I wait for sales at places like TSC. Spring is a good time for these.

I try to hit the local farm equipment shows in Jan/Feb. Last Feb I talked with a Mahindra dealer at the Colusa show. A few weeks later I bought a new 5525 tractor (55 hp engine, 45 hp pto) and a new 6-ft Hawkline brush hog from him. Got good deals on both.

More times than I can count, the best time to buy an implement is USUALLY about 2 weeks AFTER I buy one. ;) Never fails.

I have you beat... Within 2 weeks after I buy something, the new upgraded version at the same price usually comes out. Never fails.

Just bought a new Leinbach 6' pulverizer, so look for huge discounts on them in the upcoming days ;)

Kicking tires on another 85 to 100 hp tractor and batwing. Just starting to think about a no-till grass drill of some description.

Got 1000 gallons of diesel due here tomorrow. Look for diesel prices to free-fall in the next couple weeks. :(
