Instead of using chemicals, I want to find an attachement or quick-connect bucket for my New Holland Boomer compact 3040 6' quick release front end loader to slide under fairly large cactus, pull them straight up and then towards me into the bucket so I can stack them in a pile and burn them. I can then go in and remove the root system/and or spray it. Have about 50 ac. of various types of cactus, not in a clear field but interdispursed among mesquite, brush, and other trees. The attachment is going to have to be tough. Nothing worse than an attachment that last a few minutes into a job and then breaks.

You could try selling some of the better cacti instead of just burning them.

Hmmmm, now there's an idea...maybe put an ad in Craig's List....Dig your own Cactus...1.00 per hundred weight!!

Certainly, here in Central Texas this is a thorny issue!

Are you going to leave the mesquite...or deal with it somehow?

The fun part about the cactus he's talking about is that if you don't pick up ALL the green pads, OR PARTS THEREOF, then the pieces left on the ground grow roots and the infestation is even greater than when you started clearing. And, picking up the pads is made more difficult because it's spines are all over the place and go thru any gloves I've ever seen. Super thick leather starts out OK, but spines start working their way thru it and soon the gloves can't be worn because spines are all on the inside. Insideous!! Or is is insidious??

For my TBN friends from more northern climes....take a look here to get an idea of the problem we face here in Texas regarding cactus.

Would a normal stump bucket work?
