I've just spent awhile searching for info on tractor attachments. Very basic stuff, like what is used for what? Equipment manufacturers don't really provide a good description of what attachments are used for (they assume you know and I'm a wanna-be-a-newbe!). Anyone know of a source of info for this? Thanks much.

I found this Bobcat site useful in telling me what implements were used for. Of the attachments I've bought so far for my tractor, it's pretty much as this site has described but there may be some differences with some of the kit.

Anyway, it's a start and I hope you find it useful.

If you have specific question, don't be afraid to ask. Or.. if you know what you want to get done.. but don't know what implement to use.. ask.

by the way.. welcome to tbn.. I think you'll like it here.. lots of nice knowledgeable people here.

I'm gonna have to learn more before I can ask specifics. I was deciding between GT or Z (whatever the correct abbreviation) and CUT. I'm convincing myself into CUT but I was online trying to get a "tractor attachments for dummies" type site, that explains what they are and do. Only could get vety brief, one sentence descriptions. I will be mowing lawn and field (2.5 acres each), maybe pushing a little stone around a horse stall (small, only 2 horses) and possibly getting the SE PA. snow off a 70 ft. drive and if possible, making a path through it up to the stall (another 100 ft.)
I currently use an old Simplicity LT and a shovel!

Sounds more like an scut.. like a kubota BX.. New Holland TZ.. or scut of the green/red/other orange brands.. or even a rice model...

Something inthe 15-28hp range.. perhaps with a MMM finish mower.. or simply a rear mount finish and rotary mower, and FEL.. etc.

It sounds close to my uses. We have 3ac of lawn, 6ac fields, rest of the 20 is woods or wetlands. We have a BX2230 with FEL (front end loader), 60" MMM (mid mount mower), 48" rotary cutter (one trade name for this is "Brush Hog"), a 48" BB (box blade, see box blade comparison thread elsewhere), and a carryall (kinda like a forklift for the 3point hitch).

The MMM we use for the lawn as it is a finish mower. The rotary cutter we use for the pasture. This device will cut anything up to 2" in diameter or what ever the BX can drive over. We use that for the fields and parts of the woods, and when frozen solid, for some trimming in the swamp. The bulk of the snow work is done with a F-250 4X4 but we use the BB to drag or push snow out of places the 4X4 does not get to easily. The FEL we use to move snow piles left by the plow. If I didn't have the truck I would get a rear blade which is what the previous owner used with his Kubota (B6200?) for snow. You can angle a rear blade to push the snow to the side which you cannot do with the BB. The FEL is good for all kinds of dirt work and, if we had horses, for a lot of the work they would require. Most used implement is the rotary cutter.

We got the BX in mid March '05 and have about 120hrs on it.

I do mean scut and last thread gives me a good idea of what attachments I might eventually get. Thanks for info. I'll have to figure out the order of purchasing. Will go to box blade thread (no idea what they are!)
Thanks again
