I'm about to order a 422. What kind of tow hitch is on the back of a PT. Can I connect attachments from my Sears D5000 (like the broadcast spreader, dump cart, rake) to the 422? These attachments are connected via a flat bar with a pin through a
5/8" hole on the Sears. --- Thanks.

On my 425 there is a bracket (2 horizontal pieces of 1/4" or 3/16" steel with aligned holes) for a 5/8" round pin that has a hole in it for a catch pin to keep it from vibrating out. This should be able to pull your implements I think.

You should have no problem pulling your attachments. The PT comes with a small pin/bail tab lock. I changed it out to a regular 1/2" hitch pin w/ handle on top and clip on bottom. I use it regularly to tow my spreader and a dump wagon, and I've also towed a rented aerator w/o problems.

With your spreader you may have to rig something up to turn it on/off from the operator's seat. The OEM cable on mine was not long enough. The rear engine of the PT adds a lot of length between the operator's seat and any rear implement. I contacted the spreader mfr, who put me in contact with their control cable supplier who actually made up a longer cable assembly for me. I got one a couple of feet longer than the actual straight line measurement since I have it positioned on one side of the tractor, not down the midline. When you make turns in one direction, the articulation demands greater cable length. Hope that helps.

Here's what the rear hitch looks like. I have a clevis mounted in mine so it's quick to hook a chain through it...

Thanks so much for the help. I was having second thoughts about buying a PT when I found this site with all the experience shared for other readers. I'm now firmly a believer that the PT is the practical answer for me to manage my 30 acres. I hope some day I'll be able to share my experiences.
