I got sick of the jack on the utility trailer hitting the tail light or rack every time I move it with the ATV. I will need to make a custom insert for the ball that is usually on there. I have a 1 7/8" ball with 5/8" tapped hole in the bottom instead of the typical 3/4" stud. I will buil it so that it has 1 - 2" rise.

Looks good, so you welded driectly to the ATV Rear axle housing?

man that looks like it is "for keeps!"

I left the orignal drawbar on there and welded to it to avoid heating up axle .

OH , OK... I see it now! The primer was obscuring my view (I always paint over my welds right after I clean them).

Good idea using the existing hitch.
Should be plenty strong enough for anything th ATV can tow.

I would be carefull how much weight you put on it, its twice the distance from the axle than the original, dont want to damage the ATV.

I would expect any damage from extending the hitch to be torsional, such as welds broken or a bolted flange torn apart. I would not expect axle failure as the load on the axle is more dependant on the distance to the trailer axle and loading of the trailer. The axle has handled some impressive loads already. I don't remember what the thing was rated for at time of purchase, but I know I have moved trailers so heavy it could barely pull them.

Yes, I hit them with the wire wheel and primed them ASAP. Makes the welds look better on camera.

Some more pics. The tube is 2.5 x 2.5 x 3/16 wall. The squares are 2 x 2 x 3/16. The strap on top is 1/4 x 2 x 7" long. I think it will easily handle a couple hundred pounds of tounge wieght as long as I don't go wild over rough terrain with it.

looking good Marcel, think about side stress when you back up and at a slight angle, the up and down looks great but see if you can stabilize sideways some
