For $3000 the OP will probably be in the 400-500 cc range. EFI is typically on newer machines and usually on the larger (older) units rather than mid sized units. I do really like EFI. If you live where it is cold and use it in the winter, then EFI maybe more critical. Look around and you can probably find a really good unit in that price range in the 400-500 cc. I think many machines are very reliable. I would go with CVT, easy to operate, reliable, consistent power when you need it. 400-500 cc can go any where a 750-800 cc can and go more places if need tight turning, less width ect.

I will give you my opinion.

I have a 2007 Suzuki Vinson 500 with 4 wheel drive and automatic. It is liquid cooled. I have 1200 miles. I bet you can get a used Vinson for the price you are seeking.

This machine is great and I can recommend it highly. I use it to hunt and to work around the Farm. It has pleanty of power and torque and has been as reliable as you can want.

I have had great service from a Suzuki 500. I use it to plow snow and for a multitude of other jobs, including hunting in some rugged WV mountains. Although I have a winch, I have never had to use it and I have been in some deep stuff. You should be safe with any of the big Japanese four, they are all well engineered and give many years of dependable service. I would make one suggestion, try to find one with two and four wheel drive, mine will tear up the sod if the lawn or field is a little wet and I turn too sharp. Good luck.

Good point, we have a Kawasaki 300 Bayou with locking rear differential and it turns sharper and doesn't leave a mark. Our Grizzly and Rhino really churn the yard up if you aren't really careful.

I have a 2000 Polaris Sportsman 335 and the thing has been used (and abused) I am on it every other day to go fill my rack traps and pull my camera cards. I have had firewood stacked on it deer on it and whatever else I need to. Although it has seen better days after what I have put this thing thru I would I would consider buying Polaris again. Although in today's market I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I did put a set of rear chains on mine this year and it don't even seem like the same quad, what a difference!!!! On one note, I sure wish I had some kind of power steering.... Would just be a lot easier to go thru the woods hanging tree stands etc.

That was the reason I sold my Polaris 700 Sportsman. It was really a good machine, but at that time, Yamaha was the only one offering power steering. I have arthritis in my shoulders and the power steering is a real help in tight woods. Most companies now offer power steering on at least some of their models.

I am going to try to find someone to put power steering on my Rhino too.

The Polaris Sportsman is a fantastic machine. I have a 2001 500 DU edition that has not given me any problems except a stuck bleeder valve for the back brakes. Rock solid and American made.
