Anyone else get a market survey from a rather large marketing firm.

Interesting, I took it and got the feeling someone is looking for the next generational ATV/RTV class machine.

Very wordly. Hope they get some interesting returns.

I think that in the very near furture the 4 wheeler ATV as we know them will fall by the wayside. They can be a very dangerous machine for the uneducated rider. I would love to take that survey.

So can a motorcycle, car, boat, tractor. When I was a teenager, my brother and I wanted a dirt bike. My dad thought a 3 wheeler would be safer, after all it had an extra wheel. At that time the 4 wheeler had not been invented. Then stupid people were wrecking the 3 wheelers left and right and they stopped building them when the 4 wheeled ATVs came to be. People are going to find a way to hurt themselves regardless. I have heard of people breaking ankles and legs riding the Yamaha Rhinos. They start to tip over in a turn and the driver sticks their leg out to right the machine. About the safest ATV I have ever driven was my 1985 Honda Odyssey dune buggy. Full roll cage and 4 point harness.

Like I said uneducated rider, would you stick you leg/arm out of your car to keep it from rolling over, common sense does not always prevail.

Common sense says to get the 1/2 doors on the Rhino which many owners are doing. Common sense says to keep the feet in but instinct (since many owners came from motorcycles or ATV's) says to get the foot out to right the machine.

Mike - I didn't get a survey. Can you say who it's from or where their findings may be posted?

Fred - Why isn't your RTV in your signature line beside the 3830?

That is why I put "leg minders" on my Rhino. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif That seems to make them relatively safe. I have 5 kids and used to keep an ATV or two around at all times. When my oldest was only about 8 or 9 years old I began teaching him how to drive one of our ATVs. He sat on the front of the seat and I sat behind him. After he got fairly competent driving it I relaxed for just a second. At that time he yanked the wheel to try to spin it around. It flipped. I held on to the handle bars and kept my feet firmly on the pegs; creating a "human cage" around my young son as it went over. I managed to prevent any injury to him, but it broke my right femur. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif No more ATV's for me, thank you. That machine would have killed him.

I owned 3 different 1985 Odysseys and I also had a couple of 1990 Pilots. I took several tumbles on each and was uninjured. It's a shame they no longer make those. However, since it is of a similar design and includes seatbelts, I now have a Yamaha Rhino and a Kubota RTV. I actually like them much better than the old style ATV anyway. I'm convinced the side by side is the way to go. We were always toting someone, as it is never fun to ride by yourself. We have a blast on the Rhino and RTV (especially the Rhino - the RTV is a slug) and I'm confident they are much safer than the ATV's I used to own.

Oh yes, no survey.

It was from MacKenzie Corporation. No results pages were to be provided, as I recall.

It was *very* long, subtle twists on words and sentences, giving the same answer, just the question worded differently.

Interesting. They sent a dollar along for the time spent, and a reminder a few days later.

Hmmm, haven't received it but when I read that part, it almost sounds like they're trying to "tweek" the survey numbers for some reason.

Brian, If I put all my toys in my sig it will be many. I had them there at one time but then I seen that a lot of others did not so I removed them. To be very honest I just had not thought to do it. I got the following in diesel, tractor, lawn tractor, RTV, pickup. Am now looking for a diesel standby gen set of about 12.5KV and a single cyl.engine for the wood splitter. True that on road diesel fuel is more than gas but the off road equipment fuel off sets the cost.

"tweaking"

I had thought that too, but applying reverse logic and practice to some of these surveys, some people just breeze through them. Check, check, check..... no real answer.

Hence a subtle play on words, and presto, the survey analysis will report a correctly read and understood question, with a real answer.

I thought it to be an "interesting" survey, I too would have like to see results, and apparently it was not widely distributed. My the number of you answering my post. So I wonder how I was classifed to recieve it...
