ATV/UTV Trailer

Looking for a trailer to tow with the HPX. I like the JD one but not the $700 price! Just wondering if anyone had bought the trailer that TSC sells for ATVs? I can't weld so building my own isn't an option. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Which trailer at TSC were you looking at? Can you supply a link?

I have a bunch of trailers in the 4x8 or 5x6 size that I use. That seems to be a good size. My 6x12 is good also but is often overkill for yard work.

I like the swisher unit, if thats the one u are talking about. For $360 you get a welded heavy steel box, although small about 13 cubic feet, 1 7/8 inch coupler amerecan made 22" in atv tires. what it lacks is a suspension but from that you gain about the lowest center of gravity possible with that size of tire and ground clearance. The first mod I would have to make is adding a chain to prevent the lock pin and cotter pin for the dump feature from being lost.


I have done alot of internet research for everything available and better units start at about $700. My use would be behind my garden tractor, but an HPX is wider and can tow more so I would consider a regular 4x8 OTR trailer except you wouldn't gain the flotation that a good size atv or turf tread tire gives.

Even the JD 21 cart is a far cry from the quality of carts JD use to sell/make.

I have one of these. They take a beating. I have even rolled it several times. That is why I went to a screw-in ball and pin connection. It allowed the trailer to rollover with out damage. This would work better but wasn't available when I got mine.

Hey Bill,

Found the one you're looking at.

What would you be using it for? Personally, I think it's pretty small. I don't have the specs on the HPX, but this can't be any more than what your cargo box holds.

A couple things that I see that would make me not consider this one.
Too small (volume & weight capacity).
Too low (can't see it to back up).
Tongue too short (can't tell for sure but it looks like it's so short that it would be very difficult to back this trailer up. Trailer might also hit tire on sharp turn)

Personally, I would take the path closer to what chief5 has mentioned. A general purpose trailer can be gotten most anywhere at a reasonable price (HD, Lowes...). TSC has a 4x6 trailer that's probably close in price to the ATV one you mentioned but can haul twice the weight and even at 4x6, almost twice the volume.

As soon as they put the word "ATV" next to a trailer, the price always seems to double.

ATV Trailer!
Man did I got throought the same dilemma as you. Wanted something that would hold up longer than a year, have a decent capacity and not cost a bundle. Check this one out.

I have used it now for two years and have had more the 200 trees cut and moved with not to mention numerous tons of soil and other material. The thing is more solid than I had expected. You won't be disappointed. If that link doesn't work try Yahoo and search ATV cart then go to shopping.com. ONly thing I did was throw a piece of 1" ply in the bed for more support. Let me know what you think.

I just checked out the trailer (the link did work for me) and that looks like it would work. Price wise that is closer to what I was looking to spend.
