Looking for a winch for ATVs. Of course I can buy the Warn winch, but I was wondering if anyone has installed a chicago Electric or other off brand winch on their ATV. I can get a Chicago Electric winch for a fraction of the price of a warn, but not sure about mounting and switch. They come with pistol grip type controls. Anyone know how or has modified switch like this?

The Chicago Electric stuff I've bought at my local Harbor Freight store is junk. Unless there is different Chicago Electric company than sells to Harbor Freight, I'd not buy anything from them. The price is cheap and so is the quality!

I've had mixed results with Harbor Freight stuff in general.... some bargains, some decent for what paid, and some junk. No experience with CE winches. Would generaly trust wrenches and the like more than power tools.

Both Warn and Ramsey are generally the best, with Superwinch and Rule considered good. I would probably put CE in the distant third catagory.

Good Luck
