Thinking about going to a consigment auction tomorrow. They have several KK II tillers new in the crate
some 48's an one 60 with PTO's
I know the ebay prices are 1500-1700 What would you expect for these at a farm auction?

Also there is a caroni 72 in tiller but not new used What is a good price?

Going on the L5740

I think it depends who shows up for bidding. I'v seen once that two guys were bidding up the prices on nearly all the tractor implements. They - clearly - bought stuff for resale purposes and got cought up in the process. One of them payed $400 for a small 36" 3pt tiller that had sure signs of abuse. At another auction I saw a nice heavy 60" Howard tiller go for $250 or 280. That was a good deal.

I have a 50" Kuhn that is in very good shape but long out of production and about 20-years-old. I was happy to get it for $600. (from a private seller)

I just bought a very nice, lightly used 3yr old KKII 60" rototiller for $900, and felt like I got a pretty good deal. If you can get the 60" at auction for between say.... $1000 and $1600, then it's probably a good price for a brand new one in the crate. The 48" tillers should go for a bit less than what the 60" goes for, but you never know with an auction. Jmho!

Caroni is supposed to be a good tiller also, but used is hard to judge. We don't have enough info.

I would guesstimate between $90 and $1600...........just depends.

There is one main thing that I have learn while attending farm equipment auctions, or any other type of auction, and that is "Anything can happen". I have seen sellers yell at the Auctioneer conducting the sale, that the price being offered was not high enough and dropped that item from the listing. My best advice is to arrive early and check out the items and watch other potential bidders. Most Auctions are professionally and honestly conducted, but there is always the possibility that some of the bidding is done by bidders trying to jack up the selling price. Don't get caught up in the bidding and pay more for the item than you originally wanted too. It is very easy to get too enthusiastic in a bidding war. BTW, there is a member here on TBN that is an Auctioneer. Hopefully he will discover this thread and offer some advice. Good Luck.

Not to worry about getting caught up I like my money more. Ive been to plenty of auctions. This is a consignment auction so there are reserve prices
but they will not disclose.

You heading to Milton?
Prices there are all over the board normally... Seems the big dollar items (dozers, hoes, etc) don't get the money but little things go off the board (the $25 shovel you can get at Wal-Mart for $16)

New in the box tillers usually sell at auction for between 95% and 115% of retail around here. It is a waste of time tryng to get a killer deal on a tiller at auctiion "here".
