Attended an auction this weekend where a farmer was selling off all of his equipment. Thought some of you might be interested in the sale prices. All amounts are approx.
1. JD 4040 - cab, 4wd but get this, it wasn't MFWD but hydraulic assisted on the front wheels. supposedly a 90 hp that i suspect had 2000+ hours. looked 15-18 years old but hard to tell because of new paint and i don't know my model numbers too well> $18k
2. MF 240 - had the original paint, but it was green! looked 15-20 years old, 1900 hours > $5100.
3. NH TC33 - hst, loader, 59 hours > $16,250
4. MF 285 - i think this is the one with 4000 hours and it sold for $8k
5. Befco 60" tiller looked 10 years old, had a broken shaft and looked like it had been dragged down a concrete road for a few miles: $450
6. Kubota - didn't get the model#, but looked like 30-35 hp; loader and backhoe; 400 hours > $22k
7. Allis Chalmer road grader looked 30 years but except for the tires, looked in decent condition > $6200
8. '99 F350 Dually, Diesel, Lariat w/75k miles > $23k
9. 2000 Ram 3500 diesel with 19k miles, 4wd and western hauler bed > $25k
I love these ag auctions. Learn a lot from the farmers I meet there. Didn't buy a thing. The two trailers I was looking at sold within 20-30% of retail even though they clearly had a lot of mileage. That road grader had me thinking hard, I was just having a difficult time thinking of justification to the boss. The thing was huge.
