Last year I was digging through some rocky ground with my trusty old post hole auger. I mark my hole locations, dig all the holes then plant the posts. My auger had a bolt/pin on head with the bit and teeth mounted to the head not to the auger flutes. The rocks wore through the pin holding the head on and the head fell off. Try as might though I could not find the head, I suspect it was buried when I pulled the auger out of one of the holes and I then managed to dig a couple more with out a head.
I went on the hunt but could not find a new head so I just bought a whole new auger. Well lets just say they don't seem to make them like they used too because this thing, after digging maybe 30 holes in the same rocky ground is dead. The flutes are completely folded over and the outside of the cutting blades wore away through the mounting bolt holes for the teeth.
I would really like to bring my old auger back to life but can't find any bolt/pin on auger heads for it that come with the digging teeth. The material thickness of the flutes on the old auger is more than twice that of the POS one I bought. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
