There are some good YouTube videos on making a stand for your auger attachment. What is not provided is a way to more easily change to a different size auger - like 6" to 8" for example. Any ideas?

I have a 12 inch auger, but for some reason I thought it was a good idea to get a 6 inch auger. There are two bolts that hold it on the gear shaft. I removed them and the auger slide right off. The smaller one slid on easily and the bolts went back on. I did it behind my tractor and it was a quick swap.

I hated the 6 inch auger and put the 12 inch back on a week later. I've never done it again.

I'm hoping with a stand I may use it more.

I too have the 12 and 6 inch bits. I use the 6 for posts and the 12 for plants/trees. I interchange them as the need arises and like Eddie mentions above I lift the auger until its about 5" off the ground. Loosen 1 bolt and let it slide out. Usually because I have been somewhat negligent in between uses I may have to sand off some surface rust so it will go back in the hole.

On a similar note, I had my BIL make me an attachment that bolts into the auger driver and I can now put in anchors. I have done this multiple times with the vineyard. Worked like a champ.

The last time I installed the bit in the auger I found it easier to stand up the bit and align the auger drive pin and set it down that way. I suppose it depends on your ability to manhandle the bit. With one hand it's difficult to use jedi mind tricks to either levitate the bit so I can install the pin, or vice versa. So, the stand-up-the-bit move was easier for me.

The way I stood up the bit was just leaned it against the firewood pile. But it did bring about the idea to build a stand, maybe similar to a floor rifle rack. It doesn't have to be giant nor cumbersome.
