I have an L2800HST, do I have an Auto Throttle Option. Just bought it used and didn't know if it may be in the off position. I don't remember seeing anything on it or lever that would engage it but wasn't sure. I have read a lot about auto throttles on here but none for the L2800 that I can find. I know that I have a lever on the left side of the seat that holds the HST pedal in place like a cruise control and I have a hand throttle on the dash. It doesn't seem to gain RPM's by stepping on the HST pedal. My guess is no, but thought I would ask to make sure.

Also when I take off from a stop it feels like the brakes are on. This is my first HST so it may be something I just need to get used to. I have a tendency to ease down on the pedal to get it rolling and not really stomp on the pedal. Is this the correct approach. It whines really loud and slowly takes off like the brakes are locked on but they are not.

Thanks,

Your tractor does not have auto throttle. That feature is only availible with hst+ on the grand l40 series. Hst whine is quite normal and will be more pronounced if loading up tge transmission using low engine rpms.

As said there is no auto throttle, also what range are you in? remember HI range is just for road transport on flat ground, M is for some work requiring fast ground speed, you may be able to mow in M if the ground is flat and the brush not too high. Also transporting a load of dirt from one place to another. But if your hills are too steep M might not work. The symptoms of being in too high a range is the hydro making a lot of noise and the tractor acting like the brake is on. Remember the hydro is still in line with a 3 speed gear box and lower gear =more torque and lower top speed. I stay in L 90 percent of the time. but I live in very hilly country. I guess you have figured out the cruise control on the left by the seat. It is mechanical in nature, and you can use it when mowing to rest you foot, Think of using it like the throttle on the dash is to adjust engine rpm the cruise control will adjust the hydro pedal position and hold it there. It is easier to get the pedal where you want it with your foot and move the cruise forward to hold it there. You can just move the cruise forward with you hand but it is harder to do. when set you can stomp the brakes and it will move backward, but the best thing to do is when you need to stop, reach for the cruise and yank it backwards with your foot on the hydro pedal and let your foot of the hydro pedal slowly to come to a smooth stop, braking if you have to, Most of the time you dont need the brakes at all as a centered hydro pedal will stop the tractor. Brakes are for holding the tractor on a hill after the hydro pedal has centered and brakes will keep the tractor from "drifting" as the oil leaks down. The cruise is also useful when you want to use your split brakes such as pushing snow, and the front wheels may be light or off the ground completely, you can steer with your split brakes, by tapping left or right brake briefly to adjust your steering , but unless you have 3 legs, you must keep one foot on the hydro pedal for forward motion and then you need a foot for tapping split brakes, and your left foot is way over there on the other side of the hump, well you can do the Kubota ballet leg cross thing or you can use your cruise to hold the hydro pedal for forward movement and your right foot for brake/steering. If you use the cruise contol, you will not need to wear that tutu or do that leg cross thing.:D The JD guys on here like nothing better than making fun of Kubota owners and that Kubota shuffle dance, as JD and some others had sense enough to put split brakes on the left side, and a single brake on the right. Hope this helps
