Auto Throttle not working in lawn mower

I have a Poulin mower with a B&S Series 550 engine. It has not adjustment screwed on the carb, just a spring.

It idles fine, until it gets hot after 1 minute then revs up and down, looses power and can't mow.

Is there a way to adjust the low and high throttle settings?

Thorough cleaning of the carb is in order.

First run of the year? Did you put stabilizer in the fuel last year?

Such a cheap mower either going to put a manual throttle on it, works fine when controlled by hand, or just get rid of it, was $110 new.

Have a similar one w/ the same issue , it would only throttle up if you would manually push the governor lever. My buddy cleaned the carb & it works better , no great but better good enough for a cheap old mower
