Autonomous mower?

Husky has been building them for a while. As my zero turn is starting to fall apart this summer I asked dealer about a robot mower and they had been avoiding Corporate pressure to sell them.

Yesterday they called and said to maintain their dealer rank in the area, sale of a robot by the first of the year was needed. 450x model is on hand.

It should cover our farmyard but requires a guide wire.

Anyone an early adoptor?

I have a friend that's recently retired from a major well known company that is a big government contractor (NASA, DOD...think guidance systems etc.)...they had an R&D contract with Toro for developing an autonomous mowing systems for golf courses...

The tolerance factor was something like 5 centimeters...If I remember what he told me correctly...they could not quite meet the tolerances with inertial systems so the project was scrapped...Not sure if GPS systems were another part of their contract...

I worked wit ha company several years ago that was building prototypes of GPS guided mowers. Back then the problem was GPS signals being lost due to tree canopy or running to close to buildings. Not sure if that would still be a problem today or not.
