catskillsNY,
Well here is what I did…It's not the only way to go, but ....
First I located the feed wire to the parking lights from the OEM light switch…terminal #3 from the OEM light switch. I paralleled this wire to a coil of a relay. This way, the auxiliary lights can’t stay on without the tractor running and kill the battery ( just in case !! ). If you aren’t concerned about this skip ahead and go right to the fuse block connection.
Now for the power side of the relay, I took a new fuse holder from the main lug at the fuse block, through the N.O. contacts of the relay to the new switch and on to the lights. The relay is just a simple little low power relay available from auto part stores to feed fog lights.
The switch you bought includes two sets of contacts and an indicator light terminal. You need to grab terminals # 2 - # 3 for one switch ( first detent ) and terminals # 5 - # 6 for the other ( second detent ). Terminal # 7 goes to ground and feeds the indicator light through an internal jumper.
When I run my aux. lights, I just flip the OEM light switch to the first detent, parking, and snap on the big lights above. My OEM headlights don’t do much when the loader is working so I just leave them off. They just light up the back of the bucket and create all sorts of shadows and glare when they’re on.
Also, to make things easy, plan on removing the instrument panel, and the left side panel ( black ) under the steering wheel. This give you easy access to everything and saves some aggrevation.
Good luck !!
