I have a 2011 bobcat/kioti compact tractor and while reattaching the backhoe after the winter, the lever that controls the auxiliary hydraulic valve won't stay locked in either forward or back position. It just springs back to neutral. The hydraulics will work if I hold it in position. Any ideas on why this would happen after sitting all winter? It's been working fine for years. Thanks for any help I can get.

Possible crud built up in the can covering the detent assembly preventing the detent from functioning. Most detents are a combination of balls and springs. If you can the can covering the the end of the spool opposite the lever it may have a drain hole in it. If it s does try spraying a little penetrating oil in that hole and then operate the valve to see if the detent loosens up.

Thanks for such a quick response sir. I don't really know how these valves work. Are there 2 separate detents for front and back? I will try your suggestion and report back.
