Last winter when I discovered that some steering parts are not available for my 1985 Kubota I was disappointed . However after I had several dealers tell me that no information was available regarding the part I e-mailed Kubota directly. I received no response. Subsequently dealers advised me that I should not use after market replacement parts. When I requested that Kubota suggest a substitution or other type of fix - no response. In other words no support from the manufacturer.
Yes my tractor is 25 years old but with fewer than 1200 hours. There is a lot of potential service left in the machine so I purchased an after market part. I did not fit. In the end I silver brazed the broken part (Ball nut) back together. Works great but for how long ? I guess their silence and absence of support was the most disturbing part of the whole experience.
That is the back ground. The question is what should one expect from a manufacturer in this circumstance.
I always thought the my Kubota was a forever machine. From my point of view it would be if I had the faith that parts were available. I don't need assistance I just need parts. Anybody else had this type of experience ?
